Bio-Diversity -It's one of the essential ingredients of Sustainability. With Sustainability at the core of our operations, Green Commune is our medium to Celebrate, Conserve & Promote Biodiversity.

The Context

After billions of years of evolution, what do we have? 6+ billion people with no two being the same. Dare not talk about global, because, in India itself there are 48000 species of trees and plants; 80,000 species of animals and 67000 species of insects (and sorry, the bacteria and fungus categories couldn't be counted). So, if the purpose of evolution is to be logically detected, Biodiversity is definitely one amongst them

The Design

"Ecologists spent a lot of time in the 20th century trying to find ways to reduce the complexity of natural systems so that we could understand them" says Miles Silman, a Wake Forest University ecologist. But now it's been realized that the complexity that we were trying to reduce is very likely essential to understanding biodiversity. So, when dealing with Bio-diversity, it's important that:

  • Projects are planned multi-dimensionally (including time, space etc)
  • Even Program Charters can't be long term as the needs of the environment are so dynamically changing
  • Complexity varies based on the scale of operation. For example, conservation (of biodiversity) projects at the species level is to be handled at a completely different mode than the projects that deal with genetic biodiversity

The Detail

Our effort on the ground goes in:

  • Propagation of Bamboo varieties
  • Conservation of endangered, endemic, Medicinal plants
 Come & Indulge in Community Farming, as a means of giving it back to Nature!
