Mushroom cultivation started in India quite recently and in the last few years, the production has increased many fold. However, Freshly harvested mushrooms are highly perishable because of high
moisture content, metabolism and susceptibility to enzymatic browning. Its quality starts declining soon after
harvesting, rendering the produce unsaleable. Due to this factor, many small scale home entrepreuners who started Mushroom cultivation couldn't sustain in the long run due to the local demand fluctuations and lack of networking options.
